They are however launching them in new colourways aimed at the civillian market very soon, if they havent allready. The only con with em is that the design is really rekognisable as Lowa Zephyr's and is assosiated with tactical boots/use.Ĭolours available is: Desert, coyote brown, black, sage green and "wolf gray" which are all staple "tactical colours". When it came time to buy boots for civillian use, I did, as mentioned end right back with Zephyr's again. Yet they are stable enough to where my ankles feel supported and stable even in moderate to hard terrain, even while in full gear(body armor, weapons and a three day pack). With a good oair of insoles it's like walking on air, almost cushioned running shoe level comfort. The main pros with them is the light weight, and the comfort: The lacing system and construction is such that you can easily get them snug around your foot even with narrower feet, and loosen them enough for wider feet. My particular ones are Lowa Zephyr GTX mid, It's a lightweight mid-height boot made for military use, and it's loved by pretty much anyone who tries them. Im back to running Lowa's again btw, those are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Take it from someone whos made quite a few bad purchases. You can buy the "best boots in the world" but if they dont fit your particular feet, they suddenly arent any more. In summary: Salomons run narrow on most models, and in order for you to not end up with achilles tendon pain, hotspots and blisters, you need to disregard advice and try them on yourself. Speedcross from Salomon are excellent for my feet.īut, both my experience and the raving reviews dont matter all that much, as foot shapes and subsequently boot fitment is going to vary drastically from person to person. In Salomons their Wide models x ultras Are snug on my feet, their military models such as the Quest forces and XA forces which Salomon claims are wider, arent at all, and kill my feet. However, for my feet they dont work at all, even after sizing up, as Salomon clearly dont know what narrow, normal and wide widths are. They get raving reviews everywhere, and they seem to last people a long time.
